This city Oswiecim is historical because of the concentration camps here. You should come here to see history before the current wars in Ukrainian n Russia could rid the area of evidence of the genocides that occurred here back in the 1930-40’s.

While most tourists just come for the day from Krakow to visit the Auschwitz museum ,it is worth considering an overnight stay. The town centre square of Oswiecim is well worth seeing and has several excellent museums especially the Zamek (Castle) and old town hall too. The Mural walk is good to see. There are two good tourist information offices available . Though a pre booked group visit to Auschwitz main camp museum is obligatory, the much larger vast Birkenau site can be visited individually and at lesuire to explore . This can take several hours . Trains are regular to and from Krakow and take just over an hour. The train station is new after being rebuilt . There are good cafes close by .

1-night stay - with Wieliczka Saltmine 1. day, and Auswitz-Birkenau at 2. day.
Tips:
- Wieliczka: Parking is a mess - museum has nearly no parking. Private "parking" (30-40zl). Advice: Use the one, close to the Salt-Tower.
- Auswitz: Parking: Avoid the private parking-places at ALL-COSTS. The new entrance are FAR AWAY from these - with a cheaper and safer parking place, right in front of the entrance. "Line/Guide": Just buy at the museum-site, and a guide is included! (english-etc language-guides are scarce, so buy tickets in good time). And remember water and raincoat-etc.
Eating:
- is expensive... it is tourist-area/towns!
- maybe one can discover a "local" place.

We stayed 3 days in Warsaw and 1 day in Oswiecim to visit Auschwitz Camp. We stayed in a hotel (Imperiale) next to the camp. So, it was very convenient to visit the camp early in the morning until lunch time. Then we drove Warsaw back. Before coming to the camp, we also visited Krakow and we strongly recommend to spare 1 day for Krakow. We felt very sad during the camp visit. But I can say that it was the one of the most professional and instructive visit I have ever had.

My main reason for visiting, like most people I guess, was to see the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp memorials. These were quite confronting but fascinating and an important thing to do I think.
The web site for the memorial is not particularly well structured. I tried for a long time to reserve an entry card, but it would not let me click on the date I wanted. If you are wanting a guided tour then they go quite quickly, but for Auschwitz 1 they do release a number of individual entry (no guide) tickets during the day which you can reserve, or many people just turned up and managed to get an entry. There is a security check like at an airport and you need to have your identity document to enter. Auschwitz 2 is quite different - no security, though you need an entry card, but they don't make it easy to find from camp 1.
For eating I can definitely recommend Portobello restaurant. I ate there the first night and immediately made a reservation for the next night as well.

Unlike most visitors, I had not come to visit the camps - I had been to them years prior, but had not stopped to see the city itself. I'm glad that I did that this time around, as it is a beautiful little place with plenty to look at. Definitely worth a day or two, and if you're a walker like I am you'll be pleased to hear there are good walking routes - one runs as far as Pszczyna to the west and the other to Kety in the south.
a) I arrived at Oswiecim early in the morning. The proprietor, Mrs. Ursula, was very versatile concerning my check-in time. So, formalities and strict time schedules put aside, the room was immediately available and I could settle in at about 10:00-10:30, which let me relax after a all-night travel.
b) Quiet place, withdrawn from Dabrowskiego, Oswiecim's main street. Even so, the market and the closest bus stop are within walking distance.
A great place to stay if you're visiting Oswiecim for a night or two. The room was nice a cozy, comfy bed, private bathroom. The owner was super sweet and easy to communicate with. The apartment is a short 15 minute walking distance from the Auschwitz museum and it is right across the street from a train station. Very convenient. I had a pleasant stay there. Thank you
We had a great stay.
Small guest house with - of course - seven rooms, a kitchen and family atmosphere. Everything clean and everybody was so nice.
Parking lots behind the house.
Visited Oświęcim for the Museum, but it's a lovely city with so nice people, so I'll probably come back and I'll DEFINETLY stay in the 7th room guest house again.
Im staying in the hotel the last night and thats simple perfect. Clean rooms, good breakfast, parking for cars front of the hotel for free and amazing reception. Reception was very kind and help us to find restaurants, exchange office and she was there for any request. If im again in oswiecim, the hotel is my first choice.
delicious breakfast, amazing staff, lovely people. Easy parking just by the hotel. The location is really good. We visited the Auschwitz museum too and it is really close by. The is also the train station just across the street. We thought it would be somewhat loud, however nothing was hear by us the whole night.
Very modern spacious and clean hotel. Auschwitz museum just across the road so perfectly located for visiting this site. The bus stop from Krakow is a short 2 minute walk away so it was very easy taking our luggage. Friendly helpful staff on reception and in the restaurant. Very comfortable stay.
I would recommend this hotel. My flight was late and the hotel kept in contact with me regarding getting into the apartment. All staff were friendly, the apartment was beautiful and very clean. The garden was perfect to sit down in the morning with a cup of tea. I have no complaints at all
The apartment was just wonderful. Located near shops, cafes and the central area of oswiecim. It was very clean, huge and it had very good air conditioning. Everything is like you see it in the photos. Definitely worth it. Check in was very easy.
The biggest room ever for my parents, really fabulous staff this was very nice place to stay when visiting Auschwitz really appreciate the hotel staff effore. everything was super clean, new no issues at all!
The staff at Hotel Olecki were so helpful and made sure I was comfortable. They even packed me a takeaway breakfast because my bus was so early. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.
