I’m always the last person to know anything that seems to go on around town. As I went into my new favorite café (Café Fann wa Chai) in Jabel Al-Webdeih I noticed they were having an art exhibit that opened tonight. The exhibit is sponsored by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and featuring artwork from Syrian refugees in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Northern Jordan. The artwork is absolutely incredible, so well done and so emotive. Some of the artwork is happy or at least thinking of happier times, and much of it is sad, brutal, tragic, much like the lives of those who created these works. If you are in Amman currently or in the near future I would recommend stopping by and seeing the artwork. It runs until the end of August. I included a few photos for those who are interested in seeing and for those who a trip to the café would not be possible. Also if you are in Amman even outside those times, I’d recommend a stop at Café Fann wa Chai, it is quickly becoming my favorite with it’s great drinks, artsy atmosphere, and various activities.
