So I decided to take a flight to Warsaw instead of the 12 hour overnight flight. It was nearly the same price too, which was fantastic. And for some reason I figured my 70 minute flight on LOT airlines would be shorter…oh how wrong I could be.
It all started rather mundane, getting to the airport in Budapest, checking into security and then relaxing, eating and waiting for the flight to go.
I had no luck sneaking into any of the lounges in the airline either. So I waited, flight delayed, delayed again. Finally we boarded the flight; all got our seats and waited for takeoff. We started to move away from the gate in what seemed like a takeoff, but it was just a head fake. They made a quick announcement saying we all had to deplane and they would give us more information in the terminal. After boarding buses and going back to the terminal we were met by a lady who worked for a different airline who knew about as much as we did why things were delayed. She was not informed and had us follow her back to the offices. So there we went back out of security and back to the LOT offices where we proceeded to stand around for over an hour before the line moved. I was started to regret not taking the train at this point.
About 2.5 hrs I was booked on another flight in a few hours (although I had to check in at the gate again for some reason). Plus apparently in the delay my bag got fat supposedly, when they tried to deny me from being allowed to bring it on. Finally after lunch and a bit more delays I boarded my flight to Warsaw getting there only 7 hrs later than expected.
So it’s good to be in Warsaw, happy, healthy, and wet from the rain. Hope to blog a bit more from here soon too.
